Interesting question, I am hopeful that he will be guided well whilst he is in office and will make well informed decisions based on evidence and hard facts. Many of his promises during his campaign will be hard for him to fulfil due to jurisdiction already in place. I am curious to see how things pan out, but I also think that whilst many people are upset about the President-Elect that there are also those who are happy. I wonder if he will do anything to aid Science and Scientific research whilst in office.
It’s going to be an interesting term to see what he tries to deliver on from his campaign promises. He has some very different opinions on science (and many other issues) from the current President, and I am hoping those surrounding him advise him to make sensible decisions that are in the country’s (and global) best interest.
I don’t agree with much of what he said during the campaign and it will be interesting to see if he can or does plan to follow through on these things. I am interested to see how Americans respond to his presidency and whether his views will become more popular or less popular while he is in office.
I am mainly concerned about his plans to withdraw from the Paris agreement on Climate Change and the fact that he has said he doesn’t believe in human-influenced climate change, because there is overwhelming scientific evidence to support it. If America go back on their commitments to cut CO2 emissions then it would undermine a global commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. But we will see what happens…!
