• Question: Hello Stephanie, I'm a competitive swimmer too. I train 11 hour a week and contantly wake up sore the next morning. Could you suggest any cool down activities to do before I leave the pool so I can relax my muscles? I admire your work, Emily Oakes

      Dear Emily
What is your favourite stroke/race? I would suggest doin a swim down at least five minutes before the end of the session. In this swim down you should think about stretching out your muscles and swimming long to try to get rid of any lactic acid build up that will cause the stiffness and sore parts. I would also suggest stretching every part of your body after the swim. Start with the head and neck holding each stretch for at least 30 seconds then move down the body stretching the muscles. Hopefully this will help you.
