Question: how hard do you have to work in your jobs?

It varies – usually I work around 9am – 6pm Monday to Friday, sometimes a little earlier in the morning or later in the evening, and occasionally at weekends. Some of this is because I am trying to build up my experience and sometimes do things I don’t HAVE to do but are interesting or useful for me in the long run, and sometimes it’s the demands of trying to combine research and teaching. But I do enjoy my job so I don’t mind having to work a little bit late sometimes – on the plus side I get to work remotely or at home sometimes too which can be quite nice.
