Farts contain gases from the intestines (digestive system). They contain oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen (all components of air, which do not have a smell) as well as some other gases such as methane and hydrogen. But the culprit for making them smells is sulphur – mostly hydrogen sulfide.
