I think that on the whole it is. All of the best young scientists from the UK would have a come through an education very similar to that which you experience now. School science should ignite your passion and excitement for the subject and allow you to experience the principles of physics, chemistry, biology and maths.

From what I’ve seen with the students coming to Loughborough for sport science and from talking to you all over the past week, I think so. I think there are a lot more opportunities now for students to get involved with science and to see what science is really like, rather than just working from books, and this is a huge improvement from thirty years ago for example. There is also more encouragement for students to choose science as a career, regardless of being a boy or girl.

I have found any students I’ve dealt with to be very interested in the area, to ask lots of questions to ensure they understood what was happening, and to ask some great questions which show they are thinking about science and what science actually means, and this is will also come from a good education and having enthusiastic teachers.

I think so. I cant talk about all Schools but on a whole I think it is. Students have much more opportunities in School and as extra curricular activities to get involved in Science. I also think universities are getting better at reaching out to schools to provide various activities in the area of Science.
