      Although it is not possible to collate exactly how many cars there are, it is estimated that there are currently over 1.2 billion with estimations of 2 billion by 2035.

      lots! and I expect the majority of them are still fuelled by diesel or petrol. it will be interesting to see what developments happen over the next 20 or 30 years in terms of how popular electric cars will become, or what happens if and when driverless cars become available to the general public.
