• Question: Maybe this is a little bit out of subject, but I would want to know why during adolescence you've got so many mood swings?

One of the primary reasons for this is related to the changing/fluctuating concentration of hormones like testosterone. This is associated with mood swings in high amounts as is released during adolescence when going through growing periods. Coupled with this is that adolescents rarely get enough sleep to allow this growing process to occur, so resulting in a form of fatigue setting in making them more irritable.

Things in your body called hormones go a bit crazy when you are a teenager so your mood can vary wildly but as you get older these settle down and so your moods return to normal. It’s also quite a busy time of life – you’ve got things like exams and school and friends to worry about, and maybe also deciding about uni, so it’s understandable that your mood can go up and down quite a lot.

I completely agree with Dan and Laura Anne, hormones play a major role in mood changes during adolescents. But its also a difficult time no longer being a child but not quite being an adult and many people struggle with where they fit. But don’t worry things do settle down with your hormones as your progress into adulthood.
